We drove to Burgenstock* yesterday which is near Luzern. This is a lovely day-trip from Zurich. Burgenstock itself is a glamour resort (apparently). It opens in late March so everything was closed when we got there. I suspect in the real season very wealthy stroll about and enjoy the views which are spectacular. The image […]

Gosh I love British Airways
Tuesday, February 5th, 2008
This is overall a marginal rant. Overall my flight was fine, the staff at BA was good, etc etc. But flying home yesterday…
The flight from Seattle to London went without a hitch. We landed and then the problems started. I ostensibly had 50 minutes from the time my flight landed to catch my connecting flight […]
SAS Advent Calendar Day 5: The End of Childhood
Tuesday, December 4th, 2007
I hate to look a gift horse in the mouth. I really do. On top of the fact that I don’t really like horses to begin with it always seems rude. Just take the damn gift horse and walk or trot or canter or whatever on your merry way and then later re-gift it and […]
SAS Advent Calendar Day 3: The Scandal Grows
Sunday, December 2nd, 2007
Others have noticed. In years past each morning we would look forward each morning to learning about a new city. Throughout the day we would talk about whether we wanted to go to the city or whether a given city was close enough to a final desired destination. C’mon SAS, bring back the calendar!
Oh wait… […]
SAS Advent Calendar Day 1: No Advent Calendar?
Friday, November 30th, 2007
I got up this morning, fixed an espresso, and hopped online to check the SAS advent calendar. I love the SAS advent calendar. In 2002 it provided the cheap ticket to fly from Seattle to Milan. We drove from Milan to Courmayeur and skied all week.
Last year I blogged about the advent calendar. I even […]

Cinghiale Cycling Tours
Lindsey sent me a link to this very cool cycling tour site. I have never toured with them personally but I have spent a few days riding in Tuscany. Riding with a guide would be cool, riding with Andy Hampsten would be very cool (although of course you’d need to accept that you […]
Jonas’ Dharavi Photos
Thursday, May 31st, 2007
Jonas Bendiksen takes some amazing photos. His book, Satellites was just gorgeous and of course very depressing. This photo shoot in the slums around Mumbai is similar; hope and happiness in terrible places. If you get a chance to see one of his shows, do it. He has an amazing repertory of stories as he got […]
Abbiamo prima colazione in base

Let’s have breakfast in bed
I am losing the family weight bet by a handy margin. Ouch, gained 4 pounds this week. Not good. It turns out that instead of breakfast in bed I actually may have eaten the entire damn bed. Back to the coffee diet I guess.
Gli acquazzoni di aprile portano i fiori di maggio

April showers bring May flowers
I’ve never thought too much about this phrase but it is interesting and a nice platitude that the pain and suffering now can bring good results later. The converse must also be true: the cycling I am not doing now will bring about no flowering of ability in May.
It’s also interesting […]
Home from Zurich
Monday, March 12th, 2007
Loads to get catch up on. First, exercise: pretty poor week but I expected that. I will basically do last week’s workouts this week although I have already missed Monday due to jet lag.
Second, let me say that I have a deep and abiding hatred for a Swiss Air counter person, last name something like […]
