First day in Argentiere

Terrain here is so much more hardcore than Saas Fee. Unlike most of Europe Les Grands Montets doesn't do much grooming. Which is great! The one complaint I have with euro-resorts is they over-groom. Way too much emphasis on schussing gracefully down the piste, not enough bumps and deep snow.

Well not here!

And to make it nicer the mid-mountain restaurant (truly mediocre) had pitchers of water laid out.

Photos? The very tip top of the gondola.

Christmas Day in Saas Fee

Great day skiing, wrapping up our week with loads and loads of fresh powder. I'll post dinner photos at some point. Tomorrow we leave for Argentiere.

That last shot by the way was in response to Ian commenting that it seemed flat here.

Christmas Eve (and fresh pow)

P250

Merry Christmas Eve... day. Okay, Christmas Eve is an awkward holiday. I hope everyone is somewhere nice today, not stuck in an airport, certainly not at work.

We awoke to avvie canons which is a lovely sound as it means fresh snow. And indeed there is almost a foot of new at the base, probably more at the top. Sure, visibility will be bad today but hitting thick snow pockets is the best sort of Christmas present.

Okay, not a thrilling action video. But this does show Liam and Kellen skiing with Sharon down from the top.

Saas Fee is pretty mild terrain overall. Much like Zermatt I think... They need heavy snow to open the off-piste black diamond stuff.
